Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy for arcticcircletrail.gl informs you of which data we collect, why we collect it, and what Destination Arctic Circle (DAC), as a data responsible organization, uses it for.

Collection of Personal Information

Personal information covers all information that can be used to identify an individual. For example, first/last name, home address or other physical address, e-mail address, phone number, etc. Destination Arctic Circle requires you to enter personal information in the website for the following activities:

Your hiking plan

We encourage all hikers to fill out a form outlining the details of their hike. This information is used internally within Destination Arctic Circle to understand traffic along the trail – when people are hiking, how long they take to hike, which direction they hike, etc. This is then used to plan future hiking seasons and in maintaining the trail.

This information is collected in a Google Form on Google Drive, so Google’s privacy policy applies.

Feedback (Tell us about your hike)

We also encourage hikers to complete a feedback form at the end of their hike. This information is used internally within Destination Arctic Circle to identify issues on the trail (important given it’s length and difficult access), and improvements we can make to further enhance the hiking experience.

This information is collected in a Google Form on Google Drive, so Google’s privacy policy applies.

Support the ACT

Visitors to the website have the option of supporting the Arctic Circle Trail by making a donation. The website does not require users to enter personal information directly. Rather, it provides a gateway to PayPal to enable donations so PayPal’s privacy policy applies.

PLB Hire

Hikers have the option of hiring a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) from Destination Arctic Circle (DAC) as a safety precaution on the trail. No information is collected by the website. Users email Destination Arctic Circle directly for payment instructions.

Sharing Personal Information
