PLB hire

All hikers should carry an emergency device of some description on the Arctic Circle Trail. Many people opt for a Garmin InReach device, though other brands of beacons or a satellite phone are also possible.

From 2025, we will no longer be hiring PLBs to hikers.

You must purchase your own but please make sure it has two-way communication capabilities. This is to help our own emergency services as Greenland has limited capacity for Search & Rescue missions. You can find information about how the Greenland Rescue Services work at that link.

Please look after your own safety and make sure you carry one of these devices on your trek.
